Lenses / Optics

Beyond 2 is too small to wear glasses inside. Magnetic prescription inserts sit on top of the optics instead, and slip on or off in seconds.

5Contact lenses work in VR too, but inserts keep eye strain, headaches, and discomfort away without anything in your eyes. Order them alongside your headset and everything ships together. Because we build each pair to order, custom lenses can take up to 4 weeks to make. For best results, give us your eyeglasses prescription, not your contact lens prescription.

6Ordering opens a new tab where you upload your prescription and add the inserts to your cart. Come back to this tab when you are done: the card above will show them as added, and you can finish your order from here.

Fast Shipping, VAT & Duties Included

Enjoy fast shipping on all orders. VAT and duties for international orders are fully covered.

Free Returns Within 14 Days

Not satisfied? Return your Beyond 2 within 14 days for a full refund. Excludes personalized items like Prescription Lenses and Custom-fit Cushion.

Every Beyond headset comes with a 1-year limited warranty. Customers in the EU receive a 2-year limited warranty, as required by law.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a computer to use Beyond 2?

Yes, and it has to be a capable one. Beyond 2 is driven entirely by a Windows PC: there is no standalone mode, no phone or console support and no wireless option, so the headset is tethered to the machine that runs it. Some gaming laptops work through DP or a USB-C to DP adapter, but only if the dedicated graphics card is wired to that output rather than routed through the integrated graphics. Check out our Using a Laptop With the Beyond help article for more details. HDMI to DP adapters will not work.

Please check your machine against the minimum requirements further down this page before you order. Driving two micro-OLED displays is demanding work, and an underpowered PC is the most common reason a setup disappoints. If your GPU cannot support the requirements (for instance, a 1080ti), the Beyond won't just underperform: It will not be able to initialize the display.

Tracking is the other half. Beyond 2 uses SteamVR tracking, which means base stations and controllers are needed alongside it. Neither is included in the box, but controllers are not required if your use case (such as flight simulation or sim racing) does not need them.

Do I need base stations and controllers?

A base station, yes. Beyond 2 is tracked by external SteamVR base stations rather than by cameras on the headset, so at least one is required for the headset to know where it is in the room. There is no way around that part.

Controllers are the part you can skip, depending on what you play. They are how you reach into what you're seeing, so anything hand-driven needs them. Sim racing and flight sim don't: a wheel and pedals or a HOTAS setup are already your controls, and plenty of owners fly and race with no VR controllers at all.

Neither is included with Beyond 2, and neither is sold here. If you already own a Valve Index or an HTC Vive setup, the base stations and controllers you have will work.

Where can I buy base stations and controllers?

Valve sells Index Base Stations and Index Controllers through Steam, and HTC sells the Vive equivalents. Both work with Beyond 2, so buy whichever is easier to get where you are.

SteamVR base stations can also be found through other sellers such as Amazon, B&H Photo Video, or your national electronics retailer.

Alternate SteamVR controller options are available, such as GripVR or FlipVR controllers from Shiftall. Other avenues such as VR glove options like UDCAP or DiverX gloves will also work.

The used market is worth a look too. Base stations and controllers are the part of a VR setup people hold onto when they upgrade headsets, so second-hand Index kit turns up often and costs noticeably less than new.

What's the difference between Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e?

Beyond 2e adds eye tracking capabilities, so the headset knows where you're looking. This enhances social presence in games like VRChat and unlocks features like per-eye wink and blinking, with more to come through the development of our beta eyetracking software.

This also enables Dynamic Foveated Rendering (DFR) in supported OpenXR apps, like iRacing, DCS World, MSFS 2024 and more. DFR can greatly improve performance, allowing you to push graphical settings higher than before.

Everything else about the two headsets is the same, but be aware: eyetracking is built-in to the Beyond 2e, and is not available as a separate upgrade later on.

Custom-fit or Universal-fit Cushion?

The Custom-fit Cushion is molded from a scan of your own face, so it seals against light without pressure points. It's the reason Beyond fits the way it does, and it's what we'd recommend if the headset is for you alone.

The Universal-fit Cushion is the better choice if the headset gets shared between people, or if you'd rather not do a face scan. You can add one later either way.

I wear glasses. Do they fit inside Beyond 2?

No, and that is a direct consequence of the size. At 107 grams the enclosure sits against your face with the pancake optics right in front of your eyes, so there is no gap for a frame to sit in. Forcing a pair in risks scratching the lenses.

You have two ways to see clearly without them. Contact lenses work normally in the headset, but for the best experience we recommend our magnetic prescription lens inserts which provides the best vision correction, particularly for certain conditions like astigmatism.

How do the prescription lens inserts work?

They are lenses made to your prescription that snap magnetically onto the headset's optics, and lift off just as easily. Nothing is glued or screwed in, so the headset can still be handed to someone else.

Ordering them takes a step the configurator can't handle: we need your current prescription before anything can be made. That is why they sit on their own page rather than in the options above. The link opens in a new tab, so you won't lose the build you've configured here.

We recommend using your distance glasses prescription, and not your reading glasses (close-up) or contact lens prescription for best results. If you use a strong bifocal prescription, asking your optometrist for a customized prescription for a roughly 1 meter focal distance can help as well.

Can I add lens inserts later?

Yes. The inserts are a separate order rather than a configuration choice, so nothing about them is locked in when you buy the headset. Order them once you have your prescription to provide, or order a new pair later when it changes.

Two things to know before you do:

  • Because each pair is made for one person, prescription lenses are not refundable once manufacturing begins. This typically starts within days of placing an order.
  • Prescription lens inserts typically take 3-4 weeks to ship. If placed in the same order as your headset, we'll wait until your inserts are ready before shipping. That way, you can properly evaluate your headset within the 14-day return window. If you want your headset shipped ASAP and have alternate vision correction methods (contact lenses), place your lens inserts in a separate order or contact us at support@bigscreenvr.com.

How small is it, really?

107 grams. That's roughly a fifth of what a typical PC-VR headset weighs, and it's the whole point of the design: pancake optics and dual micro-OLED displays let the enclosure shrink to something that sits on your face rather than clamping around your head.

It's so small, you can store it inside one of our soda cans! Want to see just how small the headset is in real life? Try 3D printing the official full scale model, or 2D printing the official papercraft model for fun. Need to visualize the headset in greater detail for community mods or experimentation? Check out the official CAD data.

When will my order ship?

The estimated delivery date sits directly above the order button, and it updates as you change your configuration, since some options are built to order. That figure is the one to trust: it's the current lead time for the exact build you've chosen.

Need to update your order configuration and figure out a revised ETA? Contact us at support@bigscreenvr.com.

Do I pay import duties or VAT?

No. VAT and duties on international orders are fully covered by us, so the price you see at checkout is the price you pay. Nothing is collected on delivery.

My country isn't on the list. Will you ship there?

Maybe, and telling us is the fastest way to find out. We add countries as demand builds, and the way we work out where to go next is by counting the people who ask. If yours is missing, email support@bigscreenvr.com and tell us where you are, so it registers rather than staying invisible to us.

Some regions stay closed for reasons outside our control, like trade and import restrictions on this kind of hardware. Those don't move with demand, and we'd rather tell you that than leave you waiting on a list.

In the meantime, you might want to consider using a forwarding company. These services can provide you with a local shipping address in one of the countries we do ship to, and then forward the package to your location. Many of our customers outside of our shipping zones have successfully used forwarding companies to receive their orders.

What if it doesn't work out?

Contact us within 14 days of delivery to start a return for a refund. Custom items are the exception: prescription lenses and the Custom-fit Cushion are made for one person, so they are non-refundable. There are no fees for normal headset returns, but you will be responsible for paying return shipping costs for the hardware.

Every Beyond headset also carries a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years for customers in the EU as required by law. The full policy is in our Hardware Warranty & Terms.

Good!

"Excellent headset. I'm happy with it. Excellent support. It was shipped very quickly. Very lightweight. Good clarity. There is some glare, but you can get used to it. Compared to my HTC VIVE Pro2, it's a huge improvement. The field of view isn't much narrower, but the clarity across the entire field is stunning, even though the brightness is lower."

Still waiting…

"Ordered the BS2 with halo strap weeks ago. Order did ship promptly, but without halo strap. Initial tests show it’s promising: very lightweight, quite dark, noticeable glare, got my IPD dialed in by an optometrist, so sweet spot seems OK (unverified, still waiting for Halo strap). In all,I’m waiting (since weeks) for the halo strap to ship. I would have preferred if I was told beforehand that the strap wasn’t available. Disappointing."

This headset is a dream

"I finally caved in and got my bigscreen beyond 2e after several months of feeling on the edge of weather I should buy it or not. Its so much better than I was even expecting! Yes, there is some glare but its nothing near as bad as all the reviews online have said. I seriously don't even notice it at all unless I am looking for it and even then its not all the time and it doesnt bother me at all. I have used an Index and a Quest 3 long term and this blows those out of the water! The resolution is insane coming from Quest 3 to me and the OLED screen making darkness really pitch black looks insane! I am so happy with this headset. The custom facial interface also fit me PERFECTLY! Its unreal. No light leakage at all, its squishier than I expected and feels very comfortable. It can get a little hot so I recommend a fabric interface for long intense sessions but for what it is, its incredible. The size and weight is also just ridiculous. I love this thing!"

William (5/5)

is good

"heard a lot about people having issues with bsb2, personally, setting up the eye tracking was super simple and easy although i did have a friend to tell me what stuff to use and how to set it properly which significantly helped and made it easier, the first time i used the headset, i wasnt used to it ofc, so the oled displays having much darker blacks made vrchat scarier to me lol but you get used to it since its a new display, its very light and good for sleeping with as out of everything ive probably spent most of my time with it sleeping so far lol"

Katto (5/5)

Exceeded all my expectations!

"I've wanted an OLED HMD for a long time, but hesitate to buy this BSB2e for several months for the following worries: 1. Native resolution at 75 fps only. 2. Swamp-eyes facial interface. 3. Unproven Beta eye-tracking. 4. Reports of glare. 5. Cost - having to include base stations. 6. The lenses looked too small for good clarity. 7. Display resolution would be too low for clarity. 8. The BSB1 had poor reviews. 9. The Utility SW looked lacking and finally - 10. P*max DR-SE was about to be released. But then P*max crippled the DR-SE like they seem to do to all of their products! So I got the BSB2e anyway and I'm so glad I did! None of my worries came true: Clarity, color, visuals, performance, comfort etc. is all excellent! I would recomment getting the Studioform X1-B face gasket. I wish that could have come standard for the price. I use this for DCS World and IL2. My system has RTX 4090 and 5800x3d."

SimWitch (5/5)

Pretty good experience overall, but

"Pretty good experience overall, but the device stays very warm when its turned off, but plugged in to the computer. Would really like to be able to turn it off and not have to unplug it every time"

Tord (4/5)

"Everything worked well but the Glare was too much for me, for that price. If you plan on returning the product. You don't get refunded for the 3d fitting for your face. Also you have to pay shipping to send it back. I have no problems how returning the the product ended up but the glare. I tried to use it for virtual monitors and playing flat screen games."

LUIS (4/5)

Beyond Expectations

"Night 1, after hours of setting up base stations, I was honesly underwhelmed. I was tired, and I hadn't configured eyetracking on my 2e. I tried DCS for half an hour, then completely exhausted gave up. Night 2: BLOWN AWAY! Coming from a Quest 2, the MicroOLEDs, and the ergonomics are sublime. Yes, there is some glare in dark scenes when there are bright lights on the screen. They eyetracking works very well, and DCS's support for it allows for an excellent experience. *Make sure you wash your gasket frequently. It hugs your face very well, and will keep sweat and bacteria there. In 10 days of ownership, I'm well over 24 hours in headset, and excited for thousands more!"

S. H. (4/5)

"Love it! Even better than i was expecting!"

Spicy (5/5)

Great headset, Even better customer support

"The Bigscreen beyond is a great headset, it works well and I love the form factor. The only thing I dislike is the facial interface, really looking forward to the universal one. But the best part about the headset is the awesome customer support that comes with it. I had an issue with mine, and after troubleshooting with one of the support crew and not being able to fix the issue they promptly sent out a replacement. Greg was great to deal with. Thanks!"

Q&A

Is there any known favorable option for face-tracking addition to this headset? First or Third party?
Hi Piecrust! While no first party face tracking options are available, a common recommendation is using FT from project babble, such as https://babble.diy/ Or from Venti https://ventifbt.store/products/venti-babble-face-tracker If you join the Babble community, they may be able to assist in finding more options! https://discord.com/invite/babble
Is it possible to order the big screen beyond 2 without the silicon face cushion & use a third party face cushion.
Yep, certainly can! Just grab the Beyond 2 upgrade kit plus the accessories bundle - this will give you everything you need, minus the facial interface. https://store.bigscreenvr.com/products/bigscreen-beyond-2-upgrade (SteamVR accessories like base stations and controllers sold separately)
Does the Beyond 2e have eyelid tracking? Specifically asking for VRChat and curious if the trackers will just follow pupil movement.
We currently support many eye-tracking features such as blinking and VRCFT integration. More features are planned for 2026 such as winking (per-eye), gradual blink, eye wideness and even pupil dilation.
Which controllers are compatible with the Beyond 2e? As far as I know, you can't buy Valve Index Controllers on the official Steam page anymore so I was wondering if there are any alternatives.
Hi! If desired, it is still possible to purchase a pair of Valve Index controllers, though they need to be purchased separately instead of together. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1615160/Valve_Index_Replacement_Left_Controller/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1615180/Valve_Index_Replacement_Right_Controller/ However, there are a variety of alternatives in the SteamVR ecosystem, should you wish to pursue them! HTC Vive Controllers (2.0 compatible): https://www.vive.com/us/accessory/controller2018/ Shiftall FlipVR: https://en.shiftall.net/products/flipvr And GripVR https://en.shiftall.net/products/gripvr Pimax Sword: https://pimax.com/products/pimax-sword-controller UDCAP Gloves: https://udexreal.com/ eTee Controllers: https://eteexr.com/
Hey! Do your prescription lenses fit in the Beyond 2e? I can't find a straight answer...
Yes, new prescription lens insert orders are fully compatible with the Beyond 2e! Lens inserts made before 2025 (i.e for the Beyond 1) are compatible with the Beyond 1 and 2, but not the 2e due to physical size constraints.
