We've now successfully shipped more than one third of all preorders. In fact, we are now shipping more Bigscreen Beyond 2's in a month than we used to ship in an entire year of Bigscreen Beyond 1.
In recent weeks, our shipping volume has been consistently improving. We're not done yet and we have plenty of work ahead of us. As the quality control team catches issues, the engineering team dives in to find the root cause and solve such bugs via firmware updates, improved calibrations, or more. As process bottlenecks emerge, we focus on improvements via software or automation. Along with this, we continue to grow our team; if you're interested in joining our team as a Factory Technician in Los Angeles or our fully remote Customer Support team, please email us at jobs@bigscreenvr.com.
We expect our current production to stay consistent for the rest of the year, with occasional dips in production due to holiday weeks (Mid-Autumn Moon Festival in Asia, Thanksgiving in the United States, etc.) and weather-related delays. For the second time this year, we're seeing significant supply chain disruptions caused by typhoons in the South China Sea.
Latest Estimated Schedule
For the past several weeks, our production has successfully met the estimates outlined in prior Production Updates. As a reminder, the below estimated schedules are only for customers who preordered a Beyond with the Custom-Fit Cushion. Customers who instead ordered the Halo Mount have a separate shipping schedule because the Halo Mount ships later (see below for updates to the Halo Mount). For faster shipping, we recommend ordering the Custom-Fit Cushion.
We are on track to finish shipping all Beyond 2 and 2e preorders with the Custom-Fit Cushion by the end of November. We've completed January through March (the largest batch), and have begun working our way through April and May orders.
VRChat Edition preorders: The VRChat Edition started shipping recently, and digital gifts for VRChat Edition customers will be emailed this week. We're excited to ship this awesome collaboration with the VRChat team. Inside the box, you'll find a signed card from both of our teams as a thanks to the community for supporting us for more than a decade. The last remaining VRChat Edition preorders from March are shipping this week, and the rest of preorders ships in the same schedule outlined below based on the month the order was originally placed.
April 2025 preorders: same as the prior estimate. More than half of April preorders have already shipped, and we expect to complete April by the end of September.
May 2025 preorders: same as the prior estimate. More than 20% of May orders have already shipped, and we expect to complete May in the first or second week of October.
June & July 2025 preorders: same as the prior estimate. We expect to complete June preorders by mid-October, and July preorders by the end of October.
August & September 2025 preorders: same as the prior estimate. Orders placed in August & September are on schedule, and are still expected to ship in November as previously planned.
Updates to the Halo Mount
Earlier this year, we introduced a new Halo Mount which improves ergonomics and comfort when using Bigscreen Beyond. The Halo Mount rests on top of your forehead, and uses any compatible strap (such as the Soft Strap or Audio Strap) to hold the back of your head. This enables the Beyond to float on your face, with all the weight counterbalanced on the forehead and back of the head and nearly zero weight actually touching your face. The Halo Mount works with any cushion: the Custom-Fit Cushion, the Universal-Fit Cushion, or no cushion at all for an open air experience.
In the past year, we've manufactured many iterations of the Halo Mount (known as "EVTs") and listened to feedback from testers to better understand comfort, ergonomics, and durability. Feedback gets incorporated into each subsequent design revision. We've also built hundreds of units (known as "DVTs") to catch manufacturing issues and fine tune materials, processes, and tolerances before mass production begins. This is a similar process to how we go from conceptual designs to mass production for our VR headsets.
However, each time we incorporate feedback into design changes or fine tuned improvements, it risks delaying the mass production schedule. These delays are frustrating for the end customer but typically worth it in order to ensure the final product is something people actually love.
Latest Schedule for the Halo Mount
When customers order a Bigscreen Beyond 2 or 2e with the Halo Mount, it actually comes with two parts: the Mount itself, and a Universal-Fit Cushion. In order to deliver a better final product, we need to do another DVT production run of the Halo Mount to fine tune manufacturing processes. This delays the Halo Mount by 1-2 months from the prior October estimate, and we now expect to ship the Halo Mount in December.
We have a solution to avoid further delays. When testing the Universal-Fit Cushion, we've found many testers have liked using it as a standalone cushion with a Soft Strap or Audio Strap. And fortunately, the Universal-Fit Cushion has passed design and manufacturing validation tests, making it ready for mass production in October ahead of the Halo Mount.
Customers who previously ordered a Bigscreen Beyond 2 or 2e with a Halo Mount have been patiently waiting for several months. Despite the Halo Mount delay, this group of customers will not need to wait any longer. With the Universal-Fit Cushion entering mass production, we will begin shipping Beyond 2 with the new Universal-Fit Cushion by late October. The Halo Mount will ship separately to these customers when it's ready in December at no additional charge.
This lets customers begin using their Beyond 2 right away with the Universal-Fit Cushions. It may not be perfect for everyone, but we expect many customers will be pleasantly surprised. And once the Halo Mount ships later this year, it will enhance the experience even further.
To improve comfort and as a gesture for waiting so long, we're going to ship two Universal-Fit Cushions: one Soft (the standard option) and one Firm. We think this strikes a good balance between striving for ideal product quality and getting Beyond into customer hands as fast as possible. For customers who already own a Beyond and want to order this, the Universal-Fit Cushion package will be available for sale separately in the future.
What's Next
Each week, we've been shipping firmware updates to fix bugs and software updates for Beyond 2e eyetracking. In the coming weeks, we'll publish more details on eyetracking and integration work with OpenXR content and popular VR simulation games.
If you haven't preordered a Bigscreen Beyond yet, you can order a Beyond 2 or 2e from our Store. Orders placed today will ship in November. We expect demand to keep growing, and will be updating our website soon to December delivery dates. Due to unprecedented demand, it will take until January 2026 before we have sufficient inventory on hand for fast shipping without long preorder wait times. The window for ordering a Beyond and receiving it before the Christmas holidays is rapidly closing.
