Reviews

"The headset is amazing. It's lightweight and comfortable just as branded. It blocks all light from my surroundings and rests in a better spot on my face than my other headsets. The clip for the tether makes me almost forget it's even there. I received it with the audio strap which has the best audio of any device I've used. My only problem is that I had issues with the link box shortly after arrival, but support was very helpful and sent a replacement immediately."

Went beyond expectations

"Blew me away out of the box. Going from a vive 1. 0. . . the comparison is night and day. Games are clear, the headset is lightweight and easy to wear for hours, and the mic is crisp. Setup was the simplest I could have ever hoped for. Easily the best choice I have made for VR equipment."

A Whole New World

"Going from my old 3 year old quest 2 standalone to using virtual desktop to use it with my PC was a big enough improvement, but I will tell anyone considering this, it will change your VR experience. The clarity in games, the beautiful colors, and the lack of strain on my neck was phenomenal. Quite the investment, but for anyone dedicated to the best VR experience, the name really fits, because it was beyond my standards."

"The face gasket cushion could be better and made out of a more breathable material. . . as well as make the outer side of it a little wider for comfort and stability. Out side of that its a solid step forwards but could use a little more tweaks with the lenses as it isnt fully clear when you look far to the edge. . . and i get a green tint when i do so. Not the best headset ive used but far from the worst. Especially since i need face tracking now and days with good quality screens. . which is very rare at the moment. I will be keeping a eye on bigscreen and hope to see better improvements on the next headset. Even if its a little bigger i think it could fix most the issues."

A light weight and bit pricy device with good picture quality

"Definitely a upgrade to my Index. Sadly the eye tracking dose not work so good. It works for foveated rendering ok but it is not recommended for anything else. It is off by several degree. A fast calibration for eye tracking is missing, this makes it very finicky."

Great headset and great support

"When i got my headset i was really happy with it, it was way lighter than my previous headset, which had been so heavy that it physically hurt, but this one has no such issues and i can use it for hours on end. The only issue i had was with some audio popping, eventually i contacted support about it and they sent me a small device that you connect to the link box for the headset, which fixed the problem completely, they sent this device free of charge, i didn't have to pay for shipping or import tax or anything. I highly recommend this headset."

Great product

"Easy setup, as well as ample forewarning for some of the more open-source parts of the headset. Minor issue with fan orientation and noise that may be due to shipping handling, but the known magnet fix has helped with that problem whenever it arises."

Seven month review.

"Video taken in DCS with the VSN F-104C ver. 1. 05. I am actually IN the F-104C. I've noticed that I try to avoid hitting my head on the canopy. Radeon 7900 XTX, Ryzen 5900X, 32GB system ram (I really need 64gb for high population servers). Two HTC Steam VR Base Stations 2. 0. I used Grok to get all my drivers nailed down tight. I got a text file for the AMD Adrenaline driver settings for DCS, but it's a huge ugly text file and I don't see an option to upload driver settings here. You do not need a 5090 at three to four times the cost of the 7900 XTX. Power is filtered through an APC RS-1500 battery backup system with new batteries, and the computer power supply is a Corsair HX850. USB power is supplied to the link box via Geekworm PD 27W 5. 1V 5A USB-C Power Supply and female to female adapter. Data + power from the computer is through an Inateck PCI-e to USB 3. 0 (4 Ports) PCI Express Card and 15-Pin Power Connector. The Bad. I have occasional loss of video in the headset where everything turns grey until the computer re-detects the headset. This is not the headset or SteamVR losing the tracking stations. I also get a crackling or popping sound with the audiostrap. I don't experience the audio problem when I use my AKG K-702 headphones instead of the audiostrap. I'm hoping that the sound issues will be fixed with a new linkbox and cable. The sound is not really a big issue since the jet engines are quite loud, and the audio quality of the ATC or AWACS is not supposed to be all that great. The Good. I put a trouble ticket in via the Bigscreen Discord, and they got right on it and will be shipping out a new cable and linkbox. The audiostrap and custom face cushion (I ordered the thicker one because I knew I'd need corrective lenses) are incredibly comfortable, and I fly for hours at a stretch. I have the brightness set at 65%. Eye tracking is ON, and Foveated Rendering in DCS is supported with the Adrenaline 26. 3. 1 drivers. I can clearly read all my instruments when I glance down. The Ugly. The cooling fans in the headset are audibly present with the fan speed set at 95% when I am using the audiostrap. It's a complete non-issue when I use my headphones. It takes a few minutes after I put the headset on for it to come up to temperature to keep the lenses dry. They fog up a little bit at first. When I turn the fans down so I can't really hear them, the fog sticks around. An audiostrap which would allow the speakers to rotate 120 degrees down and back allowing the use of high quality headphones would be optimum. Something to keep in mind for the next version. I need to get myself down to the optometrist for a new prescription and order myself up some new Hubble Space Telescope corrective lenses to drop in my headset. I ordered the Halo headset when I ordered my BSB2e and I'm looking forward to it arriving. I am more concerned about them getting it right than rushing it and ending up with something substandard. I'm happy to wait."

Almost exactly what I was looking for all these years

"For me VR was always held back because of one key thing, comfort. This headset was a godsend for this, its lighter than my cell phone and provides better experience than every other headset I've used. It's really only held back by needing outside in tracking and the strap it ships with being quite annoying even with the top portion used. This thing is the real deal. You haven't experienced VR until you've worn a headset that you can barely register is on your face."

Very good headset, however.

"Its good, very comfortable, screens are good, barely feel it on my face. Tracks good, Microphone is amazing. After getting used to it I wouldn't pick a different headset currently. However. I have 3 nitpicks. 1. It gets hot, it does. Especially with the custom fit face mask and at higher brightness settings, its not a huge problem, just something to keep in mind. 2. Theres a bit of "ghosting"/"god rays" in the lenses when looking at certain angles of bright objects. 3. The eye tracking software isn't great at its current stage. I know its in beta, but I feel as if I'm having more annoyances than I should with it."

Q&A

Is it possible to order the big screen beyond 2 without the silicon face cushion & use a third party face cushion.
Yep, certainly can! Just grab the Beyond 2 upgrade kit plus the accessories bundle - this will give you everything you need, minus the facial interface. https://store.bigscreenvr.com/products/bigscreen-beyond-2-upgrade (SteamVR accessories like base stations and controllers sold separately)
Does the Beyond 2e have eyelid tracking? Specifically asking for VRChat and curious if the trackers will just follow pupil movement.
We currently support many eye-tracking features such as blinking and VRCFT integration. More features are planned for 2026 such as winking (per-eye), gradual blink, eye wideness and even pupil dilation.
Which controllers are compatible with the Beyond 2e? As far as I know, you can't buy Valve Index Controllers on the official Steam page anymore so I was wondering if there are any alternatives.
Hi! If desired, it is still possible to purchase a pair of Valve Index controllers, though they need to be purchased separately instead of together. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1615160/Valve_Index_Replacement_Left_Controller/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1615180/Valve_Index_Replacement_Right_Controller/ However, there are a variety of alternatives in the SteamVR ecosystem, should you wish to pursue them! HTC Vive Controllers (2.0 compatible): https://www.vive.com/us/accessory/controller2018/ Shiftall FlipVR: https://en.shiftall.net/products/flipvr And GripVR https://en.shiftall.net/products/gripvr Pimax Sword: https://pimax.com/products/pimax-sword-controller UDCAP Gloves: https://udexreal.com/ eTee Controllers: https://eteexr.com/
Hey! Do your prescription lenses fit in the Beyond 2e? I can't find a straight answer...
Yes, new prescription lens insert orders are fully compatible with the Beyond 2e! Lens inserts made before 2025 (i.e for the Beyond 1) are compatible with the Beyond 1 and 2, but not the 2e due to physical size constraints.
Linux Desktop support?
Hi, Linux is not officially supported but can absolutely work with the Beyond 2. I'd suggest joining the Bigscreen Beyond Discord server for more information Thanks
