Since the launch of the the Steam Frame we've had a huge boost in sales since the launch of the Steam Frame, and that may have left you with some questions. Like "Will we run out of stock?" or "Will prices increase?", or maybe just, "Why the heck did that happen?".
I sat down with Darshan, Founder and CEO of Bigscreen, to talk it through. You can watch it above!
The TL;DW
Will we run out?
We're in good shape. Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e are in stock and shipping in 1–7 business days, and we're building more inventory for the holidays.
Will Beyond 2 and 2e get a price hike?
Not for now. Beyond 2 doesn't have RAM, storage or processors, which are the parts hit hardest by the shortage, and while our displays are manufactured by TSMC, we booked our displays well in advance. Beyond 2 starts at $959 with the Universal-Fit Cushion, and Beyond 2e starts at $1,159.
Why are Bigscreen sales up?
The Steam Frame is a great headset, but for long VRChat and sim racing sessions, a lot of people are picking Beyond 2. No battery means no limit to how long you can use your headset. And many users coming from the Valve Index or other Steam VR headsets were looking for an upgrade and may have come across us while researching the Steam Frame.
What's next?
The Halo Mount is shipping to pre-order customers soon. We'll have a video on the design journey and so much more on our YouTube Channel. Get Subscribed!
