After announcing Bigscreen in February 2023, we successfully started shipping devices to customers around the world starting in September 2023. We created a trailer to celebrate this huge milestone.
In the past few months, we've ramped up production in our Los Angeles, California factory to prepare for the holiday season. We've stocked up on inventory, we developed computer vision-based automation, and we grew a team of passionate VR enthusiasts to build, test, and ship devices. As a result, we've been consistently shipping Bigscreen Beyond within 1 week for all new orders. This put is a great position to be well prepared for the holiday season.
Or so we thought.
In the past few weeks, sales are growing faster than anticipated. In fact, we've hit record sales in regions such as Japan, higher than ever before in the past 2 years! We've noticed this pattern happen several times in the past year. We scale up our production efforts, shipping speeds improve, and then demand grows even further, causing us to again reinvest in production capacity in order to keep up. This is a good problem to have and a sign of a healthy industry and business.
Order now to receive your Bigscreen Beyond before Christmas
We are still shipping Bigscreen Beyond within 1 week. However, we are projecting this will change in December. We are anticipating holiday sales to grow far beyond our factory's production capacity such that orders placed in late December may take up to 2-3 months. If you're buying a Bigscreen Beyond as a holiday gift and if you want to receive it before Christmas, we urge you to place an order before December 1st. We cannot guarantee that orders placed in December will ship in time for the holidays.
Please note that prescription lens inserts take 4 weeks to manufacture on average, particularly because shipping from our German lens supplier to our factory in California can take awhile during the busy holiday shipping season. If you order prescription lens inserts, they will be bundled with your headset and ship together. Bigscreen Beyond cannot be used with glasses and if you need corrective vision, prescription lens inserts are necessary.
Although many products encounter inventory and shipping challenges during the busy holiday season, it's much more challenging for us because every single Bigscreen Beyond is custom-made for each customer at our Los Angeles factory. Once we get swamped with tons of orders, it will take some time for us to catch up, build, test, and ship all orders.
