Bigscreen Beyond 2: December Production Update

As we mentioned in our previous production update, this December is our largest month of shipping in the company's history. Our factory is running nights, weekends, and overtime shifts to get as many Beyond 2 units shipped by the holidays as possible.

Unsurprisingly, we've already shipped more Beyond 2 than Beyond 1 over its 2-year lifetime. But the volume is picking up! We have shipped more Beyond 2's in just the past 2 weeks than we did in the previous 2 months. In fact, we are on track to ship more Beyond 2's this December than we typically do in an entire year! 

Beyond 2 orders with a Custom-Fit Cushion 

We previously estimated completing the last batch of July orders by mid-December. This was successfully completed. 

We estimated completing August and September orders by end of December/early January, and we're on track for this goal. Some October and November orders have already been shipping as planned, based on SKU/color inventory.

In the next week, we expect to have successfully shipped 85-90% of Custom-Fit orders that were scheduled for 2025 (this metric ignores orders with a 2026 ship date), and we aim to complete the last chunk in the following week.

Beyond 2 orders with a Universal-Fit Cushion 

We previously estimated shipping March and April orders by mid-December, and May and June orders by mid-to-late December. This was accomplished on or ahead of schedule and we have successfully shipped all Beyond 2 orders through June as planned.

Remaining orders are on the same schedule as announced a couple of weeks ago when we began shipping the Universal-Fit Cushions. We expect to complete July through September by mid-January, and October orders by mid-to-late January. November orders are expect to ship by end of January, and December will ship between January-February.

Two risks to meet our schedules

The biggest factor to meet this schedule is our weekly inbound shipments of Universal-Fit Cushions. Our weekly factory output has been consistent, but shipping around the Christmas holidays can add a few days of unpredictability. That's why it's not possible to predict exactly which orders will ship before or after Christmas.

The second factor is SKU/color. Throughout the year, we've tried to closely match production to order demand. However it is hard to perfectly align production with demand, and we've seen this issue in the last week as well as we had not produced enough Atomic Purple units for the VRChat Edition. We've since produced a sufficient quantity this week, and it's on our way to our factory. Most of the VRChat Edition orders will ship in the latter-end of our estimates. An estimated schedule for the VRChat Edition is provided below. We have produced enough in the other colors (Crystal Clear, Carbon Black, Nuclear Orange) to meet estimated schedules. Changing the SKU/color is unlikely to make a big difference in shipping faster, as the SKU/color with most inventory changes on a week-by-week basis.

Fast Customer Support Response Times

After announcing Bigscreen Beyond 2 in March and after Beyond 2's started shipping in July, we've constantly been in race to scale up in order to catch up to demand. Each time we increase our production or support capability, more customers purchased Beyond 2's, making it hard to keep up. We're finally at the end of a 9-month long journey of scaling. We're now consistently responding to customer support tickets within 2-3 business days, down from our peak load in July/August with ~2 week response times.

Similarly, any hardware repair or warranty cases are processed at our factory within an average of 1-2 business days. With rare exception of complex cases, we're consistently meeting our goal of completing all warranty requests within 1-5 business days of receiving a headset. This has been relatively easy to achieve as we get less than a couple dozen cases per week, and it has been easy to handle by our dedicated in-house RMA team. Product design has also helped RMA processes, as the Beyond 2 is easy to teardown and build (watch our teardown video on YouTube).

For the past few months, we've been quietly working on major Beyond 2e eyetracking improvements. Many features have already shipped, but the biggest update is yet to come. This upcoming update includes the most demanded eyetracking feature, and is particularly important for flight and racing sim enthusiasts. Keep your eyes peeled for an announcement next week!

Unprecedented Demand

Due to unprecedented demand, it is no longer possible to order a Bigscreen Beyond 2 and receive it before Christmas. If you haven't preordered a Bigscreen Beyond yet, you can order a Beyond 2 or 2e from our Store. Orders placed today are expected to ship in January or February based on SKU/color choice. We expect to have sufficient inventory by February for fast shipping within 1-2 days of placing an order.
